What I love about The Grand Ivory Leonard TX as a wedding photographer

The style of my photographs is light, airy and romantic – and I honestly think The Grand Ivory is the Dallas wedding venue that matches that description best. Nearly every space on the property has a bright, light colored space with tons of natural light which makes for some incredible photographs! It’s rare for me to struggle to pick a favorite ceremony space among venues with multiple options, but both the chapel and the outdoor space are equally gorgeous places to say “I do”.

We have so many options throughout the entire property to take incredible portraits of you, your love, and your friends and family. One of the key things I look for in a venue on my preferred list is it’s flexibility in a variety of weather and lighting conditions, and The Grand Ivory wedding venue absolutely checks this box!

About The Grand Ivory

The Grand Ivory sits on 18 acres of property, which provides a feeling of peace and tranquility when you arrive. The entire space feels private, secluded, and dedicated to the celebration of it’s couples! The amenities at The Grand Ivory include 12 hours of venue rental, which allows couples to create a more relaxed timeline that takes advantage of every second of the big day. They also include a one hour opportunity to take bridal portraits prior to the wedding day – bridal sessions are my FAV!

For those searching for hotels near The Grand Ivory Leonard TX I recommend options in North McKinney, a short 30 minute drive from the venue. Fairfield Inn & Suites Dallas McKinney, the Sheraton McKinney Hotel or the Grand Hotel at the historic McKinney Square are three great options to consider!

Ceremony and Reception Locations

I hinted above that choosing a ceremony location at The Grand Ivory may be a tough decision, in the best way. Both the chapel and the outdoor option were intentionally built so that the couple stays backlit during afternoon and evening ceremonies, which is the most flattering light for the photographs!

The Chapel

The Chapel seats up to 250 guests in the white church pews, and has the most epic and beautiful view of the property behind the altar! The bright white interior ensures flattering, soft lighting throughout the ceremony at any time of the day. One of my personal favorite features is it’s ability to be an enclosed space full of windows, with fans that help mitigate both summer and winter weather to make the climate more comfortable for you and your guests.

The Ivory Archway

I see couples most often favor the Chapel at The Grand Ivory Leonard TX as their ceremony location, but I honestly think the Ivory Arches are just as beautiful! The area is just slightly larger, with the option to add wooden farmhouse chairs with a guest capacity of 275 people. Even if you decide not to use it as the ceremony location, it makes a beautiful spot for sunset couple portraits!

The Barn

If your vision feels more “southern elegant” than “rustic”, the Grand Ivory Barn is the perfect option! It’s bright exterior and interior make portraits of the space both indoor and outdoor really stunning. The farmhouse chairs and tables really enhance the space, which allows even minimal decor to create a beautiful atmosphere. There’s even a balcony at the front of the reception space that allows me to capture some truly grand portraits of you during your first dance!

The Grand Ivory Amenities

The Bridal Cottage

There is SO much to love about this cottage! I adore the swing out front that makes for a sweet photo op with your best girls, the full length mirror and pedestal, the three styling stations and easily accessible bathroom. It’s a relaxing, functional space to begin the wedding day and The Grand Ivory photos here are gorgeous! As a vendor who has 150+ weddings in her career and full of experience, one of my favorite perks is the distance between the groom’s cottage and the bridal cottage. The day just flows so much easier when these spaces have a little distance between them, so that there are no accidental glances before the first look of the day!

The Grooms Cottage

One of my biggest pet peeves is venues that intentionally create a beautiful suite with bright light and gorgeous decor for one partner, while dumping their future spouse in a small, ugly and windowless room. The difference in quality between the two suites makes me sad! Luckily, this isn’t the case with the Grand Ivory! This second cottage for your partner features nice windows and mirrors in addition to a porch, pool table, wet bar and TV! Getting ready photos at either cottage are 🔥.

String Light Courtyard

The perfect cocktail and couple portrait space! If the weather is nice, an outdoor bar can serve your guests underneath the picturesque string lights. The symmetry of the lattice in the grass makes my photographer’s heart happy as part of the composition of your newlywed portraits!

The Pond

18 acres may initially seem like an excessive amount of land for a wedding venue, but the privacy it provides is so serene! It allows us to use features such as the pond behind the chapel for your portraits without any distracting elements in the background. I love venues that have a variety of beautiful locations throughout the property, since they increase the variety of your wedding portraits!
