So. Many. Portrait locations!! I’ve captured weddings here in all four seasons and in a variety of weather conditions – rain or shine, I can guarantee your images will be absolutely gorgeous on this property. It’s so important to have a variety of amazing location options since both the light and the weather are constantly changing on a wedding day.
The front of the venue is my favorite spot for sunset portraits after the ceremony, and the large windows at the back of the hall let in an abundance of natural light as guests eat dinner at the reception!
When it comes to choosing your venue, I strongly suggest considering your relationship with the owners themselves! You’ll be communicating with them back and forth for the next few months, and it’s invaluable to know you have good people in your corner. Firefly Gardens Midlothian TX is a family business operated by Jamie, her mother Jan and her brother Dennis who are all incredible people! It’s been an honor to get to know their team.
Located just 25 miles south of the DFW Metroplex, Firefly Gardens has an extremely convenient location for friends and family who are traveling from out of town. For those searching for hotels near Firefly Gardens Midlothian TX for their guests, check out the Courtyard Dallas Midlothian at Midlothian Conference Center, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Waxahachie, or the Comfort Suites Waxahachie – Dallas all within a 15 minute drive of the venue!
I’ve said it a million times before, but it truly is so important – choose a venue where you love the rain plan just as much, if not more then you love the outdoor ceremony option! Firefly Gardens has two ceremony locations to choose from, and both are absolutely stunning from a guest’s and photographer’s perspective.
I love when a venue is built with intentionality for their couples – small things, like the fact that the indoor ceremony space at Firefly Gardens is backlit to allow the sunshine to stream in behind the couple makes a WORLD of difference in your images. The windows, chandeliers, wood beams and bright light make for absolutely gorgeous ceremony photographs here!
The Pergola is my favorite part of the outdoor ceremony space! It not only adds visual interest to the space, but also provides soft shade and cover for couples while standing at the alter. When the ceremony space is in full sun, the light often has a high level of contrast between the couple which can cause some brides or grooms to squint through their ceremony. Here, the pergola provides beautiful shade which allows you both to have soft light on your faces and helps me catch every single little emotion the two of you share!
When it’s time for your guests to sit down for dinner in the Hall, they’ll enjoy a beautiful view of golden hour and sunset from the large windows on the north side as they eat. The reception hall has a 250 guest capacity, and despite capturing 10+ weddings here I’ve never seen the layout be the same. The space can be fully customized to your guest count and vision!
There are multiple getting ready locations for Firefly Gardens photos, but my favorite is the Historic Hall! This beautiful house is the perfect spot for the wedding party to begin their hair and makeup, with a professional salon and makeup room upstairs. I’ve even seen couples bring their swimsuits, and begin the day by taking a quick dip in the swimming pool out back! (I’m still waiting for a couple to hire me who wants to end the night by jumping into the pool together with their guests – talk about epic!!)
The second and third getting ready spaces are located inside the reception hall! The giant mirrors make getting ready easy, and the 60-inch flat screen provides pre-ceremony entertainment. You can also take advantage of these spaces during dinnertime by having a private dinner with just the two of you here!
Remember when I mentioned that Firefly Gardens Dallas has a ton of epic portrait locations?? If I haven’t already taken you to the front of the venue, the back of the venue, the ceremony space, the oak grove or the indoor hall we’ll head over to the white barn and bridge! At sunset we get the most incredible glow here, making your just married portraits absolutely magical!
Firefly Gardens cost starts at $6,300 which includes a 15-hour rental from 9 a.m. till midnight, round or rectangle tables for up to 250 guests, and white indoor and outdoor seating. The Firefly Gardens pricing has an all exclusive package, which includes access to the Historic House and tables to accommodate up to 40 guests in the house reception room.
