What I love about The Dallas Arboretum as an engagement photographer

The Dallas Arboretum is typically my number one pick for my couples envisioning a natural setting for their engagement session, especially during the winter season! The grounds are beautiful year round. While other engagement locations tend to look brown and dead during the months of November to February, there is always something blooming in the gardens. And the lake is stunning year round as well!

3 tips to know for your Dallas Arboretum Engagement Session

  1. Dallas Arboretum standard tickets are $20 per person. Although if you hire a photographer who shoots here often (hey, I’m Karina😉) they may be able to reserve tickets for you through their own membership to the gardens. If not, also know that parking is $11 when reserved online in advance or $15 per vehicle at the gate.
  2. The gardens are open daily from 9AM – 5PM, and I highly recommend booking your tickets for the session online and in advance to ensure you have access day of. During hot summer months, I recommend early morning sessions to help avoid heat and take advantage of the softer light. During fall and winter months, reserve tickets for the final time slot at 3:30PM to take advantage of the earlier golden hour!
  3. Bring a pair of comfy shoes in addition to your cute ones! Heels can be an elegant addition to your session outfit, but prepare to walk up to half a mile to get to some of the best spots in the garden. I recommend comfy shoes to start, and a small bag for your additional shoes and any accessories you might bring!
