I am a Texas fine art wedding photographer, based in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I believe in light, timeless, romantic photos that are as artistic and unique as the love the two of you share together.

I'M KARINA

Basically, it’s a trial run of your big day. I get asked these questions all the time – what is a bridal session? Don’t we do pictures on the wedding day? Why should I schedule a separate session just for bridal portraits?

As wedding photographers, it’s easy for us to sometimes forget that brides and grooms don’t automatically know the ins and outs of some wedding traditions. The bridal portrait session, in particular, is traditionally done in the south sometime between 2-4 weeks before your wedding day.

It’s essentially your rehearsal for your wedding day.  You’ll get dressed in your gown, have your hair and makeup done, and meet me at your venue or alternative location to get some gorgeous portraits done in advance of your wedding day!

Here are a few awesome reasons why I recommend every bride do a bridal session:

You’re already paying for hair and makeup trials – use them to your advantage!

Most professional hair and makeup artists will include a trial run of their services in their packages so that you can make sure you like their work, as well as provide them with feedback. By scheduling your bridal session on that same day you’ll make sure that you not only like your look in the mirror, but in your photos as well! Nearly every single one of my brides has mentioned to me that after receiving their photos, they had either their hair, makeup, or dress alterations adjusted so that it would be perfect by the big day. And sometimes, it’s all three!

Your dress looks perfect – but does it feel perfect too?

You’ve likely just gotten your dress back from alterations, so you want to make sure that it will still be just as comfortable two hours into the wedding day as it felt that day during your pickup. If something rubs you the wrong way (mentally or physically, take your pick!) you’ll know ahead of time so that you can make any adjustments that might be needed.

A little extra insurance against bad weather is never a bad idea!

As much as we hate to even acknowledge the possibility, storms do happen on wedding days. Our portrait time may end up being limited, or even nonexistent – so knowing that you already have some stunning portraits lined up from another gorgeous day of your choosing will be a huge stress reliever.

Your bridal details, finalized.

Bridal portrait sessions not only allow me time to take portraits of you and all your bridal beauty, they also allow for extra detail shots of your bridal details. Get your jewelry, garter, invitation, and florals ready for some extra time in the spotlight, and they’ll be ready to go on your wedding day as well!

Practice makes perfect.

If you’re a professional model, skip this part of the post because it’s not meant for you. If you’re still with me, you’re a normal bride – one who has never done this before, and one who could always use a little extra, stress free posing practice before the wedding day arrives. We’ll both be able to relax and get to know one another in a carefree environment, so that I already know you prefer your left side to your right before the day even begins. By the time your wedding day arrives, you already know that you rocked your portraits before – and you’ll rock them again!

WOW them as they walk into your reception!

Traditionally, the bride has one or two large prints of herself in her wedding gown printed and displayed by the entrance to the reception area. It gives guests a chance to be absolutely stunned by your beauty before you even enter the room! Your prints will also make for perfect presents for your parents, or even your hubby to be!

“But will we already take these types of portraits on my wedding day?” Of course! I will do my best to maximize our portrait time and get you as many gorgeous photos of you as possible. However, if you want a stress-free, fun experience where you get to trial run your hair, makeup, and florals AND get extra gorgeous portraits… A bridal session may be for you!🙌🏻
