When Emma first reached out to me and told me that she and Christopher were planning a brunch wedding, I was so excited!! The idea of a happily ever after followed by mimosas and pancakes was absolutely dreamy to me. And to make things even more special, Texas decided to give us – SNOWPACALPSE 2021 – which added a bit of extra flair to their winter wonderland of a day!
Amber at Sunset Oaks (an incredible venue in the Tyler, TX area) recently mentioned in a live video on her Facebook page that while it’s great to have a “perfect” wedding plan, what’s even more valuable is having a “perfect” wedding team. Emma and Christopher’s brunch wedding was an amazing example of this! Since they had a team of expert vendors who genuinely cared about them as a couple and their special day, together we were able to overcome the challenges that the snowstorm threw us, including icy roads and limited heat/water.
About a month before the big day, Emma told me she was planning to surprise Christopher by doing a fake first look with her uncle. Since this was a brunch wedding, we did their portraits at sunrise! He donned a kilt and braved the cold bare chested as I told Christopher that Emma was ready to see him… This was his reaction!
I’m fairly certain that in the next picture, Christopher is looking at me accusingly for breaking his trust by not showing him his future wife. I don’t think he was too upset, though😉
…The embrace he didn’t want but didn’t know he needed?
The real deal… Moments before these two saw each other for the first time on their wedding day!
Since you weren’t there, I feel it’s my duty to tell you that in this moment Emma tearfully teased “You promised you wouldn’t cry!!” and it was a moment full of alllllll the feels.
Up next, some portraits in the snow! I have a secret about them that I’ll share at the end…
Please note that not only is there just a thin layer of lace between Emma and the elements, but that her dress even had a slit that further let the cold in! She was SO BRAVE. I am always impressed by my brides who are willing to go the extra mile for some incredible portraits!!
Despite the cold, Emma was GLOWING thanks to Get Pretty with Kylie! The next shot really features her soft, natural bridal glam.
Emma was just the sweetest, most stunning bride ever!
This one is for the Star Wars fans… WYA?? Christopher’s cufflinks had so much personality!
Yay, you made it to the end! The secret??
ALL of the above portraits (and more not shown here) were taken in exactly 9 minutes! It was literally 25 degrees, and we had genuine concerns about keeping Emma out in the cold much longer. I’m so thankful that she and Christopher trusted me to do my job well, and get them a wide variety of portraits in a very short amount of time!
Oh, and did I mention that Emma gifted me an adorable little box full of all my favorite goodies?? Chai tea, a giant Hershey’s chocolate bar, gift cards to both Olive Garden and Sonic… I felt positively spoiled. On a day that was all about them, Emma and Christopher thought about others… And that pretty much describes who they are as a couple!
If you’re in the midst of wedding planning and searching for a photographer to join your vendor team who will serve you to best of her abilities, drive 25 miles per hour on icy roads in order to be there for your day, and just generally be someone you can relax with and trust that you’re in expert care… You found her🤗 And I can’t wait to meet you!
